Dr. John Chao for San Marino Patients

Gum recession treatment near San Marino

Dr. John Chao practises in Alhambra, CA, next to San Marino.

Dr. John Chao, DDS invented the Pinhole Surgical Technique® — a minimally invasive treatment for gum recession now adopted by over 4,000 dentists worldwide.

Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation is a scalpel-free, suture-free procedure: through a tiny pinhole made with a needle, specially designed instruments gently reposition the gum tissue over the receded area — no cutting, no grafting, no stitches. Multiple teeth can be treated in a single visit.

A 14.5-year follow-up study in the International Journal of Periodontics & Restorative Dentistry (2025) reported 77.9% complete root coverage maintained over 14.5 years.

Other care at the practice

Periodontal treatment using a fiber-optic endoscope and laser therapy; non-surgical options for loose teeth; general and cosmetic dentistry, dental implants and teeth cleaning.
